Free Technology for Teachers offers a magnificent variety of FREE resources to help teachers of all subjects incorporate technology into the classroom. This site also is devoted to showing teachers how to use the technology.

Nik's Learning Technology Blog provides clear and thorough (yet concise) directions how to use technology to teach. A couple of the posts are "Tasks to Teach Yourself to Teach with Technology" that could also be used as assignments for students to become familiar with the tools.

Literate Lives--Nurturing a Reading/Writing Lifestyle for Yourself and Your Kids appears to have blog lessons and assignments for almost anything a Communication Arts teacher would be interested in teaching.

Teenreads.com Blog, Ramblings of a Teenage Bookworm, and Young Adult Book Central are rich with descriptions of young adult literature. This year our MAMS eighth graders get to individually choose the majority of the books they read for class, the only restriction being it must be something they love so much they do not want to put it down, and I can see my sprouts enjoying getting suggestions from these sites.

Watt's Up--The Wattpad Daily A couple of my students who love to write shared Wattpad, a site where they have been having fun posting their own stories and reading those of other writers. Later, I noticed it has a blog.

WeBook Blog offers challenges, which are specific competitions for writers. For example, the one in progress when I first visited the site was to create a description of a monster in 400 words.
